Why logistics businesses need to keep pace with technology

Technology solutions are regularly touted as business enablers or as delivering cost savings. The problem for many logistics and delivery companies is that much of the techno-babble rarely resonates with their daily operations.

The result is that technological innovation is introduced into the company in a piecemeal fashion by managers with experience in using technology solutions that have helped them in their previous roles.

But, if your company is not hiring and you own or manage a business with a local, regional or national operation, how are you staying ahead of the game? Perhaps, you believe with your size of business, you have sufficient control of your fleet.

However, the world is changing fast, and without a strategic approach to advancing technology, market changes and customer volatility, how can you be sure that your business is ready for the inevitable changes?

As a strategic business resource, you will be aware that the DVSA is working to strengthen their intelligence-led examiner process. They are actively employing IT-savvy business analysts to help ensure the highest road safety standards by using data and intelligence to target the most at-risk drivers and vehicles.

The DVSA intelligence-led examiner process includes intelligence-led inspections, investigations and enforcement of road safety laws and regulations.

So regardless of your efforts, the DVSA are increasing their use of data-driven risk assessment tools to identify drivers and vehicles posing the highest risk and targeting enforcement operations to address those risks. This includes the use of intelligence-led inspections and investigations, as well as the enforcement of road safety laws and regulations.

But what can you do to improve operations without breaking stuff when the leading proponents of technology adoption say things like "Mitigate litigation and negative brand association by proactively investing in tech and trends to promote transparency and privacy, such as digital ethics, responsible AI, human-centric computing, decentralised identity and homomorphic encryption."

To translate the preceding quoted text, you are being encouraged to use technology and trends that promote transparency and privacy, thus avoiding being sued or a negative brand image.

Digital ethics ~ the use of technology and data in an ethical way.
Responsible AI
~ the use of artificial intelligence designed to be accountable to humans.
Human-centric computing
~ is the development of technology that is beneficial to people.
Decentralised Identity
~ using digital identities not controlled by a single entity.
Homomorphic Encryption
~ is a security measure that allows data to be encrypted while still being used and processed.

In our experience, most fleet owners and transport managers don't have the time or inclination to understand what that means to their business.

Partnering with Zengi Limited means you don't have to learn all the new tech language to decipher what's being sold to you. We are here to help you plan and be ready for oncoming changes, reduce your capital investment burden and increase your return on investment.
